Cheech and Chong’s Up in Smoke is a stoner’s paradise of a movie and even as someone who doesn’t partake, or am a big fan of either Cheech Marin or Tommy Chong, found this to be a fun and entertaining time.

VIDEO – 4.5/5 |
Paramount has released Up in Smoke onto Blu-ray presented with a 1080p high-definition transfer and a 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio and… it looks pretty darn good, especially for a movie that came out 40 years ago. I’m not sure if this underwent a major renovation but colors are generally bright and detail is sharp throughout. |
AUDIO – 3.75/5 |
The included DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track isn’t amazing but certainly more than serviceable outputting clear dialogue levels but otherwise, nothing overly noteworthy outside maybe the great 1970s-era score and music. |
OVERALL – 3.5/5 |
Overall, Cheech and Chong’s Up in Smoke is a stoner’s paradise of a movie and even as someone who doesn’t partake, or am a big fan of either Cheech Marin or Tommy Chong, found this to be a fun and entertaining time. This 40th Anniversary release from Paramount includes some decent bonus features and respectable video/audio transfers. |
