Trolls is one of those half-baked animated features that might feature nice animation, it’s something that’s probably geared more towards kids and has little to offer their parents; on the plus side, the voice acting wasn’t bad.

Plot Synopsis: Poppy, the optimistic leader of the Trolls, and her polar opposite, Branch must embark on an adventure that takes them far beyond the only world they’ve ever known when they must rescue their friends from the Bergens, creatures who capture and eat trolls. Quick Hit Review: Despite the scary nature, it’s all good with a positive message about love and happiness intermixed with music and cheap humor. Honestly, I didn’t really expect much from Trolls and even with the whole eating trolls element, it’s still a safe enough flick for families to watch together, but it does lack the creativity compared with other animated projects (in and outside the Pixar brand). On the plus side, the animation is pretty and the voice casting on the parts of Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake weren’t bad. |

VIDEO – 4.75/5 |
No surprise, this animated film looks brilliant in 1080p (MPEG-4 AVC codec) where colors are bright throughout and detail is sharp. It’s an almost given that an animated feature, with a major budget, should look good and it doesn’t disappoint. |
AUDIO – 4.5/5 |
The disc comes with a surprisingly robust DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 track which nicely showcases the variety of music and score along with clear dialogue levels mainly from the center speaker while front and rears are mostly used for ambient noises. |
OVERALL – 3.0/5 |
Overall, Trolls is one of those half-baked animated features that might feature nice animation, it’s something that’s probably geared more towards kids and has little to offer their parents; on the plus side, the voice acting wasn’t bad. This “Party Edition” released by Fox offers great video/audio transfers and a so-so selection of bonus material. |
