PLOT SYNOPSIS |
When Jim Halsey (C. THOMAS HOWELL) stops to pick up a hitcher one rainy night, he is soon dying to turn back time. The man (RITGER HAUER) puts a knife to Jim’s throat as he tells him to pull past a stranded car on the side of the road. Its occupants have already been brutally slaughtered by the ominous stranger. Now a bloody game of cat-and-mouse is about to be played out in this desolate stretch of highway, and every poor soul who rides that road is going to take part whether they want to…or not! |

Warner Bros. releases The Hitcher onto 4K Ultra HD where it’s presented in the original 2.39 widescreen aspect ratio and given a 2160p high-definition transfer. In a word it’s another homerun from Warner where detail is incredibly sharp and colors nicely balanced with mostly earthy tones given the mostly desert setting. There are still bouts of color that does pop making it for a really nice transfer. The disc comes with a very strong and robust Dolby Atmos track which is a good surprise for a movie that’s nearly 30 years old. Dialogue does come across with excellent clarity and some amazing depth for the numerous action sequences not to mention the whirling winds of the desert. |
