Steeped in ancient Jewish lore and demonology, The Vigil is a supernatural horror film set over the course of a single evening in Brooklyn’s Borough Park. Low on funds and having recently left his insular religious community, Yakov (DAVE DAVIS) reluctantly accepts an offer from his former rabbi and confidante to take on the responsibility of an overnight shomer – fulfilling the Jewish practice of watching over the body of a deceased community member. Shortly after arriving at the departed’s dilapidated house to sit in vigil, Yakov begins to realize that something is very wrong.

This release does come with a matted slip cover and the interior sleeve is reversible. The only feature is the film’s Trailer.

VIDEO – 4¼/5, AUDIO – 4/5

The Vigil is presented with a 2.39 widescreen aspect ratio and given a 1080p high-definition transfer. For the most part it’s a good looking picture, detail is decently sharp throughout and although a fair portion takes place at night or in dark settings, there is some okay colors while black levels are nicely balanced.

The included DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. There’s not a whole lot but during some of the more suspense-filled spots, the track does come to life. Otherwise, dialogue does come across the center channel with good clarity.
