PLOT SYNOPSIS |
A contended widow (SIMONE SIGNORET) allows a handsome stranger (ALAIN DELON) to move in and work on her farm. Their secret affair and plans for the future take a dramatic turn when he succumbs to her jealous sister-in-law’s seductive daughter (OTTAVIA PICCOLO). The drama plays out against the picturesque French countryside. |
SPECIAL FEATURES – 2/5 |
Not a whole lot, but there is an Audio Commentary by Entertainment Journalist and Author Bryan Reesman and the Theatrical Trailer. |
VIDEO – 4½/5 |
Kino Lorber releases The Widow Couderc onto Blu-ray, presented with a 1.66 widescreen aspect ratio and given a new 1080p high-definition transfer, which was taken from a new 4K restoration from the original camera negative. For the most part this looks quite good, detail is sharp and well defined while colors are well balanced with a more trend toward the natural spectrum. |
AUDIO – 4/5 |
The disc comes with a basic DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track which offers up clear dialogue and there is some decent depth with ambient noises, mostly sounds of the farm with some more action during the finale. |
