PLOT SYNOPSIS

Despite being key players for the Wolves, baseball players Dennis Ryan (FRANK SINATRA) and Eddie O’Brien (GENE KELLY) harbor a passion for vaudeville. When a local gambler (EDWARD ARNOLD) puts a lot of money on the Wolves to lose a big game, he tries to win the bet by offering Eddie the lead role in a newly produced show. Though Eddie is tempted to accept, he risks incurring the wrath of both Dennis and the team’s owner (ESTHER WILLIAMS), who just happens to be his girlfriend.

Warner Bros. releases Take Me Out to the Ball Game onto Blu-ray shown in the original 1.37 full frame aspect ratio, receiving a new 1080p high-definition transfer. If not for the limited bonus features, I would argue the Warner Archive Collection has some of the best catalogue titles releases on Blu-ray, this is no exception. Colors are bright and vibrant and detail is sharp and very nicely defined throughout. While a couple might have escaped me, I didn’t notice any significant film damage, dust marks or other flaws.

The disc comes with a more than adequate DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono track. As singular channel lossless tracks go, this one sounds rather good with the musical numbers coming across quite nicely as does dialogue and other ambient/background noises.
