SERIES SYNOPSIS

Thousands of Japanese students have “chunibyo”, a state where they’ve convinced themselves that they have secret knowledge and hidden powers. Yuta Togashi (JUN FUKUYAMA) knows that all too well, as he spent his middle school years living in a complete fantasy world. With work and effort, he’s overcome his delusions, and he’s ready to go to high school as a normal kid. Unfortunately, the girl (MAAYA UCHIDA) who lives above him is deep into her own case of chuni, and she’s decided that he’s her soul mate! Can Yuta survive a girl who may be literally mad about him? And what happens when Yuta’s FORMER “one true soul mate” returns? Maybe the best thing that could happen is for Yuta to re-embrace his own chunibyo as things get seriously wild and crazy.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 1.5/5

This 4-disc set comes housed in an HD Keep Case and has both seasons as well as two OVAs. Features are on the lighter side but include Chuni-Shorts, Chunibyo Lite Shorts, Clean Opening Animations and Clean Closing Animations.

VIDEO – 4.5/5, AUDIO – 3.75/5

Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions is presented with a 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio, as originally televised, and given a 1080p high-definition transfer which looks fantastic with bright colors and only minor amounts of banding, though nothing distracting. Each episode is accompanied with English dubbed and Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 tracks, both sounding fine however, as always, I prefer the original language.

OVERALL – 3.0/5

Overall, Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions: Complete Seasons 1 & 2, as a series, isn’t quite as frenetic as the anime I’ve comes across over the years and this one does at least have some charm especially in regards to its lead characters, Togashi and Rikka. The Blu-ray release isn’t packed full of features but the video and audio transfers look and sound good.
