Well intentioned for sure but ultimately Days and Nights, written and directed by Christian Camargo, is a fairly dull film with some OK acting from a nicely put together named cast; despite the talent involved, it just was not an engaging flick. The DVD released by MPI features good video/audio while the bonus material is relatively basic.

PLOT SYNOPSIS
Movie star Elizabeth (ALLISON JANNEY) takes her paramour Peter (CHRISTIAN CAMARGO) to her lakeside estate to visit her family during Memorial Day weekend. There they meet up with Elizabeth’s ailing brother (WILLIAM HURT) her artist son (BEN WHISHAW), his ethereal muse (JULIET RYLANCE), the family doctor (JEAN RENO), the estate’s custodian (RUSSELL MEANS), its careless caretaker (MICHAEL NYQVIST) and his wife (CHERRY JONES), their temperamental daughter (KATIE HOLMES), and her long suffering ornithologist husband (MARK RYLANCE) who’s the keeper of the sacred land where a bald eagle is trying to raise its young. Over the course of the holiday weekend, a disastrous turn of events leads the family from dysfunctional to heartbreak and ultimately, salvation in this tragicomic examination of the volatile and fragile nature of love.
