While well intentioned, The Color of Time is basically a student film, by Franco’s pupils, with high level actors filling the roles. The story isn’t that well written and all in all just not that interesting. The DVD released by Anchor Bay is very basic with no features and so-so video and audio transfers.

PLOT SUMMARY

In this dramatic look at the life and work of iconic Pulitzer Prize-winning poet C.K. Williams (JAMES FRANCO), we find he has a beautiful, adoring wife (MILA KUNIS) and a young son. But as he prepares for a reading in New York City and struggles to create new work, he is haunted by memories of his past – from his first sexual encounter to a later tragic loss. An ensemble of directors work with a star-studded cast to weave together a unique story of a complex man and the relationships that defined him.

VIDEO – 3.5/5 | AUDIO – 3.75/5

The Color of Time is presented with a 1.78 anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio and although it’s not a great looking film to begin with, the colors are generally bright if not a bit oversaturated.

The film comes with a standard but effective enough Dolby Digital 5.1 track. Optional English SDH and Spanish subtitles are included.

OVERALL – 1.5/5

Overall, while well intentioned, The Color of Time is basically a student film, by Franco’s pupils, with high level actors filling the roles.
