The Lego® Batman Movie does have some funny moments and great scenes with inside jokes for any Batman fan out there. The downside is the plot is rather thin but the message is one that kids and adults could get something out of while the jokes do run a bit dry and the film could’ve been cut down.

Masterminds is a poorly made comedy-caper that has a respectable cast in Galifianakis, Wilson, Wiig and, in a limited role, Sudeikis but both director Jared Hess and the trio of writers can’t make use of any of them with the majority of the jokes failing miserably.

Heartbreakers is an entertaining and all around fun crime-comedy featuring good performances all around but especially Sigourney Weaver and Jennifer Love Hewitt who are wonderful together and the sole reasons this movie still works today going on 14 years.

Birdman might not quite be the home-run of a film some make it out to be, but no doubt Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s character-driven opus, with commentary on modern-day blockbusters, is anything if not original and features a fantastic performance by Michael Keaton who was deserving of the Best Actor award.

The Hangover Part III by definition as unnecessary but despite two cruel scenes as well as some scenes that just didn’t hit the mark, I still enjoyed this sequel although I’m not sure if it’s because it’s actually funny or if it’s relative to the fact Part II was a complete rehash of the first sans laughs. In any case, I’m not giving this a glowing review for the obvious reasons however it is at least worth a rental.

Puss in Boots is a good entry in DreamWorks Animation catalogue, though I’d hardly call it a classic. Even so, the voice talents are all fantastic, the animation top notch and this Blu-ray release offers up a decent amount of features and excellent video and audio transfers. If you liked the character in his three previous appearances, then you’ll enjoy him here as well.

What makes The Hangover Part II a poor sequel isn’t the fact it’s a mere retread of the original but that’s it’s simply not very funny and the void in laughs is filled with either obnoxious characters or lame ass plot devices and gross out “humor”. The Blu-ray at least is good on both the audio and video fronts but it does lack anything substantive with the features.

G-Force may not be the best in terms of kid’s movies to come out recently, but it is a decent affair that most will enjoy. There are a few jokes here and there for parents to enjoy although this is a movie that will portray to mostly the younger children. The technical package is reference material in terms of the audio while the 3D video is OK – but nothing special – and the features are outstanding.

Due Date was a slight disappointment only because Robert Downey Jr. has been on such a role with the Iron Man movies and Sherlock Holmes where he showed just how damn funny he is, but here I thought his character was a bit too much of a douche coupled with Galifianakis who came across as too obnoxious making for a double whammy of annoyance. The film does have some funny moments and although Jamie Foxx’s cameo is a bit of waste, I still give the film at least a moderate recommendation if only to see the two stars face off with one another.
