Sophie’s Choice is a harrowing drama set against truly haunting images. The performances from Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline and Peter MacNicol are all fantastic. The Blu-ray released by Shout Factory is hardly perfect with merely acceptable audio and video transfers but the roundtable discussion featurette is well worth watching.

Dave is a nice movie filled with fine performances from Kevin Kline and Sigourney Weaver. Sure, it’s predictable and more than outlandish in its premise (bit of a stretch that he looks exactly like the President), but it’s one I’ve had fun watching throughout the years. The Blu-ray is on the disappointing side with average audio/video transfers and a sparse amount of features.

No Strings Attached hardly breaks new ground in the romantic comedy genre yet I still found it mostly to be a funny if not charming film. Although Ashton Kutcher doesn’t deviate from what we’ve seen from in other similar movies, he fills in the role of the doting boyfriend wanting more from a relationship and Natalie Portman is more than suitable for the stubborn woman afraid of commitment and the pain that might follow.
