Bounty Killer is a brutal yet often fun action adventure in the vein of Mad Max. The two leads played by Matthew Marsden and Christian Pitre are great together while Kristanna Loken serves well in a smaller role as the villain.

THE MOVIE

Plot Outline: 20 years in the future the world is a wasteland run to the ground by corporations who care about nothing but profit. Their selfishness has laid waste to society and they must pay. A special breed of outlaws sets out to exact vengeance from these white collar criminals, and they dispatch their victims in the most creative and bloody ways possible. Top assassin Mary Death (CHRISTIAN PITRE) is as beautiful as she is lethal, but her main rival, the mysterious Drifter (MATTHEW MARSDEN), is setting the bar pretty high in this vicious game of revenge.

VIDEO – 4.5/5

Arc Entertainment releases Bounty Killer onto Blu-ray presented in 2.40 widescreen aspect ratio and with a 1080p high-definition transfer. Surprisingly, despite the fact the movie is drab with muted colors, the picture looks pretty good with fine detail levels and while it is grainy in appearance, it only adds to the dusty apocalyptic vibe the cinematographer and director were going after and it shows off quite well on the small screen.

AUDIO – 3.75/5

The disc includes a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track and although at times it has a nice effect, it also comes across somewhat soft in other places. The action scenes also don’t quite pack a punch though I wonder if this is due to cheap sound design. However, the rear channels are mostly lightly used for ambient noise while the bulk of the action takes place through the center – where dialogue levels are fairly clear – and front channels.

OVERALL – 3.25/5

Overall, Bounty Killer is a brutal yet often fun action adventure in the vein of Mad Max. The two leads played by Matthew Marsden and Christian Pitre are great together while Kristanna Loken serves well in a smaller role as the villain. The Blu-ray released by Arc Entertainment is light in bonus material but the video and audio transfers are both decent.
