SEASON SYNOPSIS |
After defeating Leviathan, Supergirl (MELISSA BENOIST) learns that Lex Luthor (JON CRYER) used Obsidian to rewire the human mind. Now half the world has pledged undying allegiance to the evil industrialist, while the other half faces certain death. There’s a way to defeat him, but victory will banish Kara to the Phantom Zone. There she will encounter one of her fiercest rivals, the ruthless imp Nyxly (PETA SERGEANT), who is on a quest to find seven magical totems that will set her on a path to world domination. The danger intensifies when she teams up with Lex. Can the Superfriends stop them? Prepare for a season of unexpected twists as the final 20 episodes reveal the Girl of Steel’s fate. |
SPECIAL FEATURES – 2¼/5 |
This 4-disc release comes housed in an HD keep case and side-slides into a matted slip cover. Inside is a redemption code for the Digital HD copy. Features are light, however, with only A Farewell Tribute to Supergirl featurette with what amounts to be exit interviews and Deleted Scenes on select episodes. |
VIDEO – 4½/5 |
The fifth season of Supergirl flies onto Blu-ray presented with a 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio as it originally aired on TV and has been given a 1080p high-definition transfer. Colors on this series, even when the story can be dark in tone, are bright and detail is relatively sharp throughout the season while black levels were decently stark. (copied from season 4 review) |
AUDIO – 3¾/5 |
Each episode comes with a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track which was adequate providing for clear dialogue, though from time to time had a bit too strong, but depth was pretty good during the action sequences where the front and rear speakers were sufficiently utilized. (copied from season 4 review) |
Check out some more 1080p screen caps by going to page 2. Please note, these do contain spoilers.
