The opinions I share are my own.
PLOT SYNOPSIS |
Herman (FRED GWYNNE), Lily (YVONNE DE CARLO), Grandpa (AL LEWIS) and their ghoulish TV family go to England to claim an estate. Herman inherits a mansion and moves the family into the estate full of ghosts and other surprises. |
SPECIAL FEATURES – 3.5/5 |
This release comes with a few decent features including an Audio Commentary with Actor Butch Patrick and Filmmaker/Recording Artist Rob Zomie; Cast Radio Interviews (17:59); some Radio Spots (2:26); the Theatrical Trailer (2:49); and several Still Galleries. Also included is The Munsters’ Revenge (1:36:14) TV movie shown here in HD. |
VIDEO – 4.75/5 |
There’s no mention on the back cover or the Shout Factory website, but presumably this did receive some sort of restoration, either by SF or Universal. Either way, this really looks incredible in 1080p high-definition. The detail throughout is sharp and very well defined, the natural film grain has been retained and no noticeable bouts of artifacting, aliasing or even specs. Colors meanwhile shine through, particularly noticeable with Munster’s green face which pops off the screen quite well. |
AUDIO – 4.0/5 |
The disc comes equipped with a standard but still effective DTS-HD Master Audio Mono track and for something that is a comedy, it’s perfectly fine as dialogue comes through with good clarity as does the ambient/side noises and score. |
