PLOT SYNOPSIS

Kat Decker (LAURA MARANO) could use a Christmas miracle. The aspiring singer-songwriter has big dreams… and bigger problems. Her vain stepmother (JOHANNAH NEWMARCH) forces her to be a singing elf at billionaire Terrence Wintergarden’s (BARLCAY HOPE) Santa Land, but the job has one bright spot: Nick (GREGG SULKIN), the handsome new Santa. As the Wintergarden Christmas Gala approaches, Kat’s stepmother and stepsisters (LILLIAN DOUCET-ROCHE, CHANELLE PELOSO) are determined to keep her from going. Could an attentive dog, a BFF and a sprinkling of holiday magic help turn things around?

SPECIAL FEATURES – 1.5/5

This release comes with a slip cover and redemption code for the Digital HD copy. There are only two featurettes included: The Looks and Costumes of Christmas Wish (5:33) and The Mic and the Stage (11:04).

VIDEO – 3.75/5

Warner Bros. releases this film presented with a 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer. For the most part this is a fine looking picture, detail was pretty decent for the most part but this certainly does look like a made-for-TV film so it is incredibly bright with some vivid colors such as the greens on Marano’s elf outfit or the reds on Santa Clause suit.

AUDIO – 4.0/5

The disc comes with a standard but effective enough DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track outputting clear dialogue and some modest ambient noises coming out of the rear speakers.

OVERALL – 2.75/5

Overall, A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish is the fifth in the series that began with Hilary Duff (remember her?) followed by a sequel with Selena Gomez and apparently these have sold well enough to warrant some of the cheap DTV films. For the most part, these are pretty innocent that younger viewers might love, and probably tolerable enough for anyone older.
