PLOT SYNOPSIS

Mike (CRAIG PECK) is always getting in the way of fun. His obsession with horror movies and their rules dictates that no matter where he goes, he can’t help but expect to find a monster lurking around every corner. But this time, his paranoia might be justified…

After being invited to a remote lodge, along with some friends (WENDY BEDNARZ, MARK COLLVER, BONNIE BOWERS, JOHN CARHART III), Mike immediately begins to sense that something isn’t right, but none of his friends believe him. Unfortunately, they’re dead wrong, and a slimy alien frog monster has indeed landed in the nearby woods and set out to fulfill its mission of killing all human makes and mating with females. Can Mike convince his friends that there is something out there, before the men have their brains sucked out and the women are carrying green mutant fetuses?

VIDEO – 4.0/5

There’s Nothing Out There arrives on Blu-ray through Vinegar Syndrome where the film received a new 1080p high-definition transfer taken from a 2K scan of the original 35mm interpositive which had been restored. While there were a few minor dust marks and specs, this was a good looking picture, colors appear natural looking without seeming oversaturated and detail was relatively sharp with minimal softness in some respects.

AUDIO – 3.5/5

The included DTS-HD Master Audio Stereo track is better than I expected from a low budget film from the early 90s. While the sound design is hardly fantastic, it still was fairly impressive showing off good dialogue levels and some okay depth during the creature attack scenes.

OVERALL – 3.25/5

Overall, There’s Nothing Out There isn’t great B-movie horror or anything yet there is a fun element to these independently made films where there is a lot of passion both in front of and behind the camera. This new Blu-ray from Vinegar Syndrome offers up impressive video/audio transfers and a good array of bonus features.
