Streets of Vengeance is a fun homage to 1980s revenge films and given you do have a cast with little experience, and the budget itself was something like $8k, I was rather impressed.

PLOT SYNOPSIS |
Mila (DELAWNA MCKINNEY) is an ex-porn star whose decision to leave the industry is interrupted when she’s kidnapped by a militant misogynist sect known as The Sword, intent on ridding the world of women who they believe are using their sexual powers to destroy men. The Sword’s plans are thwarted when Mila kills her captor, and with the help of Brian (ANTHONY TO’OMATA), a local journalist, escapes. Emboldened, Mila recruits her friends from the adult film community who form a ragtag militia and set out to destroy the cult of The Sword. |
SPECIAL FEATURES – 4.5/5 |
Audio Commentary – Writers/Directors Paul Ragsdale & Angelica de Alba and Director of Photography Dan Zampa. The trio provides tid-bits about how the movie was made such as the massively low budget of only $4,000. Making Streets of Vengeance (1:17:35; HD) is an very extensive and lengthy behind-the-scenes featurette with interviews by the cast and crew breaking down the casting process, wardrobe and other aspects. Streets of Vengeance Cast Interviews (18:51; HD) is basically some of the extra interview footage with the actresses. Onset Footage and Outtakes (14:56; HD) are shown in chronological order. Bloopers (6:36; HD) with plenty of line-flubs. Camera Work with Cinematographer Dan Zampa (2:44; HD) gives a technical explanation on what cameras were used. Jesus vs. Vestron Vultrure II is the 1980s-inspired electronica score. Rounding things out, we get a variety of features:

VIDEO – 3.5/5 |
Considering the low budget nature, the 1080p transfer doesn’t look half bad. Detail wasn’t the best at times, although close-ups were sharp enough and colors were especially bright in keeping with the 1980s-esque visual style. There is some heavy noise and grain but this was generally clean looking. |
AUDIO – 3.75/5 |
The disc comes with a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track which I found to be perfectly serviceable providing clear dialogue and some okay depth. Although you can certainly tell some of the lower grade audio, still this lossless track was pretty decent all things considered. |
OVERALL – 4.0/5 |
Overall, Streets of Vengeance is a fun homage to 1980s revenge films and given you do have a cast with little experience, and the budget itself was something like $8k, I was rather impressed. The Blu-ray release through Slasher Video line offers good video and audio transfers and an excellent selection of bonus features. |
