I guess its apt timing for this to come out after the New Year’s Eve quasi meltdown, but 2001’s Glitter was as bad as it was 15 years ago; the acting is at best spotty and the story clichéd.

Billie Frank (MARIAH CAREY) is a talented young singer struggling to make it big in New York City. SPECIAL FEATURES – 0/5 |
No features were included, in fact there’s not even a chapter selection. |
VIDEO – 3.5/5 |
Glitter arrives on Blu-ray presented in its original 2.35 widescreen aspect ratio and given a favorable enough 1080p high-definition transfer. The picture isn’t anything special but detail was sharp and colors appear to be bright and natural looking. |
AUDIO – 3.0/5 |
Unfortunately, but not surprising, we only get a Dolby Digital 5.1 track which sounds fine yet for a movie that is music-centric, this would’ve benefited from a lossless high-definition track. As it is, it’s adequate but lacks depth even in bass-heavy club sequences. |
OVERALL – 1.0/5 |
Overall, I guess its apt timing for this to come out after the New Year’s Eve quasi meltdown, but 2001’s Glitter was as bad as it was 15 years ago; the acting is at best spotty and the story clichéd. This bargain priced Blu-ray from Mill Creek is the epitome of getting what you paid for with no features, lossy audio and decent but not great video. |
