Adventure Time is a fun series that, although I’m not entirely in love with compared to others, but through its whopping 42 episodes (down from 52 from last season) is wonderful and a fine short time-filler give each episode is only about 12-minutes long.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.

Note: Certain sections were copied from my season five Blu-ray review.

THE SEASON

Season Synopsis: Oh my glob you guys!!! Adventure Time Season 6 is so amazing. Like, can-of-beans amazing, there are sooooo many episodes jammed inside this disc-thingy that it’s probably equal to the amount of lumps in ooo and that’s, like, what? 43? Forty-three episodes starring Finn, Jake, Jake as a Brick, Finn’s dad, a comet, Jermaine, tons of princesses and more can you lumping believe it?!

Quick Hit Review: Adventure Time with Jake and Finn is certainly one of the most unusual yet creative animated series not only currently airing but perhaps of all time. It also has a broad appeal from young viewers who will be amazed by the various characters to adults. At first the show wasn’t my cup of tea but over the course of now five seasons, it has grown on me and I love the different characters and the fact each episode is briskly paced clocking in at around 11-minutes.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 1.5/5

As with the previous season sets, this one comes with a matted slip cover with a slit cut out on the front revealing one of the major characters. Inside is an episode pamphlet and a slip with the redemption code for the Digital Copy.

Very light but included are 12 Song Demos, 7 Animatics, Galleries for Concept Art, Backgrounds & Models, and Food Chain Featurette (1:38; HD) which just shows how the animation was done on that episode.

VIDEO – 4.25/5

Adventure Time arrives on Blu-ray presented in its originally televised 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer (MPEG-4 AVC codec). Like the previous seasons, this offers bright colors and decent-to-good detail though you can definitely see the crude animation in certain shots. Still, it appears to be clean, free of aliasing or banding making for a good-looking transfer.

AUDIO – 3.5/5

Each episode has a standard Dolby Digital Stereo track which is serviceable but nothing great providing for clear dialogue, whiles other parts, like the soundtrack, is pretty flat with only moderate range. Though a lossless track would’ve been nice, it’s not a necessity for a program like this.

OVERALL – 3.0/5

Overall, Adventure Time is a fun series that, although I’m not entirely in love with compared to others, but through its whopping 42 episodes (down from 52 from last season) is wonderful and a fine short time-filler give each episode is only about 12-minutes long. This sixth season release is rather weak in terms of features but the video looks great and the audio is adequate enough.
