SERIES SYNOPSIS |
In October 1951, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz debuted the first episode of what was to become one of the best-loved and most-watched TV shows of all time. Zany redhead Lucy and her Cuban bandleader husband Ricky Ricardo, along with their neighbors and comic foils Ethel and Fred Mertz (Vivian Vance and William Frawley), got into the most hilarious predicaments ever imaginable. Overflowing with notable guest stars and escapades that never lost their entertainment value, it’s no wonder everyone still loves Lucy. |
SPECIAL FEATURES – 3½/5 |
All seasons of I Love Lucy are here in an extra wide DVD-sized case with the spindle inside being able to removed to make it easier to get the discs. All features from previous releases are here, probably around 50+ featurettes and other retrospectives looking back at this classic series. I would take me too long to list them all but fair to say it would take you hours to watch them all, and has features that will satisfy any fan. |
VIDEO – 3½/5, AUDIO – 3¼/5 |
Paramount releases I Love Lucy: The Complete Series onto Blu-ray and is presented with a full frame 1.33 aspect ratio as originally aired back in the 1950s. The black and white presentation looks really good that’s stable while black levels are stark without seemingly crushed. Thought this was another solid release from Paramount and well worth upgrading from previous DVD releases. Each episode comes with a PCM 2.0 tracks (seasons 1/2) and English DTS-HD 2.0 Mono tracks (Seasons 3-7) that are more than adequate for a show of this age with dialogue coming across well enough as does the zany score. |
