PLOT SYNOPSIS |
In the wake of the September 11 attacks, Captain Mitch Nelson (CHRIS HEMSWORTH) leads a US Special Forces team — including Chief Warrant Officer 5 Hal Spencer (MICHAEL SHANNON), Sergeant First Class Sam Diller (MICHAEL PENA), Sergeant First Class Ben Milo (TREVANTE RHODES), Sean Coffers (GEOFF STULTS) and Vern Michaels (THAD LUCKINBILL) amongst others — into Afghanistan for an extremely dangerous mission. Once there, the soldiers develop an uneasy partnership with the Northern Alliance to take down the Taliban and its al-Qaida allies. Outgunned and outnumbered, Nelson and his forces face overwhelming odds in a fight against a ruthless enemy that takes no prisoners. |
SPECIAL FEATURES – 2/5 |
As this is a MOD release, there is no slip cover or digital copy code. Features are on the lighter side with a 12 Strong: The Making of an Impossible Mission (22:05) behind-the-scenes featurette and Monumental Effort: Building America’s Response Monument (10:13) showcases the hard work in building the sculpture in honor of the men featured in the film. |
VIDEO – 4¾/5 |
12 Strong is presented with a 2.40 widescreen aspect ratio and a 2160p high-definition transfer and is an impressive looking picture where the natural film grain and noise is retained giving it some nice texture. Aside from that, detail is sharp and well defined while colors are more on the muted side given the Afghan setting but there are some pops of color here and there. |
AUDIO – 4¾/5 |
The included DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track is quite strong from the clear dialogue levels making way through the center channel to excellent low levels when the chopper takes off or lands as the LFE rumbles rather evenly instead of just shaking the floor or walls. |
