UltraSeven, the third series in the Ultraman franchise, and while this is not always my cup of tea, it still holds some entertainment value at least and plenty of funs as you watch men in goofy costumes fight amongst miniature buildings.

THE SEASON |
As an “Interstellar War of Invasion” spreads across the universe, a scout from the Land of Light in Nebula M78 comes to Earth on a mission of peace. After witnessing a heroic act of self-sacrifice by a young Earthman, the alien is inspired to protect the planet and its people from those who would do it harm. He adopts the human identity of Dan Moroboshi and joins the Ultra Guard, an elite unit tasked with defending the Earth from alien invaders, as the team’s newest member…the giant hero Ultraseven! |
SPECIAL FEATURES – 0/5 |
This six-disc set comes housed in an extra-wide HD keep case which side-slides into a sturdy slip case. There is a code for the Digital Copy (redeemable only on movieSpree). There is also a booklet included with trivia and an episode guide. No features were included, unfortunately. |
VIDEO – 4.5/5 |
UltraSeven (Ultraman Series 3) arrives on Blu-ray presented with a 1080p high-definition transfer and shown with a 1.33 full frame aspect ratio as originally televised. As with the first two seasons, this looks surprisingly good, detail is sharp and well defined through the season, colors are generally vibrant without seeming oversaturated and there were no clear signs of damage to the source material, making this another solid transfer from the folks at Mill Creek. |
AUDIO – 4.0/5 |
Each episode comes with a Japanese language DTS-HD Master Audio Stereo track which does produce clear dialogue levels and a bit of depth during the more action-centric scenes. Nothing amazing but it’s still an effective lossless track. (Copied from Series 1 Review) |
OVERALL – 3.5/5 |
UltraSeven, the third series in the Ultraman franchise, and while this is not always my cup of tea, it still holds some entertainment value at least and plenty of funs as you watch men in goofy costumes fight amongst miniature buildings. This Blu-ray set offers up great video and audio transfers, but no features were included. |
