Return of Ultraman is another zany science fiction fantasy adventure series. There are some fun moments amongst the stilted dialogue and half-baked storytelling which, more often than not, culminate with Ultraman taking on the episode’s creature.

THE SEASON |
Following years of relative peace, mankind is once again under attack by giant monsters. A new Ultra Hero, Ultraman Jack, arrives from Nebula M78 to combat this threat. After merging his life with that of Hideki Go, a young race car driver killed while rescuing a boy and a puppy from a rampaging monster, Ultraman Jack battles alongside the terrestrial defense team known as MAT (Monster Attack Team) to protect Earth. Return of Ultraman is the fourth entry in the Ultraman series introduces dozens of new aliens and monsters, and it also features guest appearances from the original Ultraman and Ultraseven, presenting the first of many Ultra Hero team-ups. |
SPECIAL FEATURES – 0/5 |
This six-disc set comes housed in an extra-wide HD keep case which side-slides into a sturdy slip case. There is a code for the Digital Copy (redeemable only on movieSpree). There is also a booklet included with trivia and an episode guide. No features were included, unfortunately. |
VIDEO – 4.5/5 |
Mill Creek Entertainment releases this fourth season, titled Return of Ultraman, presented with a full frame 1.33 aspect ratio and has been given a sharp looking 1080p high-definition. This picture looks on par with the previous three seasons, with well defined detail, plus bright and vibrant colors in each episode. |
AUDIO – 3.75/5 |
Each episode comes with a Japanese language DTS-HD Master Audio Stereo track which does produce clear dialogue levels and a bit of depth during the more action-centric scenes. Nothing amazing but it’s still an effective lossless track. (Copied from the Series 01 review) |
OVERALL – 3.0/5 |
Return of Ultraman is another zany science fiction fantasy adventure series. There are some fun moments amongst the stilted dialogue and half-baked storytelling which, more often than not, culminate with Ultraman taking on the episode’s creature. Given the price, it’s not a bad deal and if you own series 1-3, you’ll get another piece to the montage from the spines Mill Creek has created. |
