MacGyver, like the remakes of Hawaii Five-O and Magnum P.I. (which makes up CBS’ Friday night lineup) is updated for the 21st century and 21st century audiences with more flash and flare than anything resembling good storytelling.

SEASON SYNOPSIS

In this third action-packed season, MacGyver (LUCAS TILL) leads his crack team on one high-risk mission after another, crisscrossing the globe to keep the world safe from harm – while using little more than bubble gum, a paper clip, and his unending supply of resourcefulness.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 0/5

The five-disc set comes housed in a standard DVD case. No features were included.

VIDEO – 3.75/5, AUDIO – 4.0/5

Lionsgate releases this third season of MacGuyver onto DVD presented with a 16×9 enhanced widescreen aspect ratio and includes Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks on each episode. Nothing special about either, in fact the video in some spots look a bit oversaturated, but both were serviceable enough.

OVERALL – 3.0/5

MacGyver, like the remakes of Hawaii Five-O and Magnum P.I. (which makes up CBS’ Friday night lineup) is updated for the 21st century and 21st century audiences with more flash and flare than anything resembling good storytelling, though I guess in this case, Lucas Till has been okay in the lead but still doesn’t hold a candle to Richard Dean Anderson, hell Tate Donovan who plays his father would’ve been better suited. In any case, I can’t be too offended with this version but it is not must-watch television.
