I never really watched the original run of Veronica Mars outside of a clip here and there, so going in I didn’t really have any warm memories though I know some avid fans didn’t care for this revival but for me, I found it passably entertaining.

SEASON SYNOPSIS

All hail the bacchanalia that is the glorious tradition of spring break in Neptune, a time for scantily clad beachgoers to get loaded, laid… and murdered. When a series of fatal bomb blasts threatens to decimate the seaside town’s tourist industry, Mars Investigations is hired by a wealthy congressman to track down the killer of one of the victims. As Veronica (KRISTEN BELL) navigates new developments in her longtime relationship with Logan (JASON DOHRING), she’s sucked into a dangerously complex mystery that pits anti-spring-break elites against working-class townies and stretches from Neptune’s pristine paradise into U.S. politics and a Mexican drug cartel. But never fear, Marshmallows, Veronica’s back – and she’s still fighting mad.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 1.5/5

This two-disc release comes in a standard Blu-ray case and the only feature is footage from Comic-Con 2019 (26:09) about Veronica Mars with sound bites by the Kristen Bell, creator Rob Thomas and others.

VIDEO – 4.0/5

Warner Brothers releases Veronica Mars: The Complete First Season onto Blu-ray via their Archive Collection MOD program. Each episode is shown with a 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio and given a 1080p high-definition transfer. For the most part, this pretty much looks on par with any new show, detail is sharp while the picture itself looks pristine, no real texture either, while colors are generally bright and black levels are stark and deep.

AUDIO – 4.0/5

The included DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track on every episode isn’t anything noteworthy yet still serviceable with clear dialogue coming through the center channel and some moderate depth for the front and rear speakers, mostly for ambient noises or the generic score.

OVERALL – 2.75/5

I never really watched the original run of Veronica Mars outside of a clip here and there, so going in I didn’t really have any warm memories though I know some avid fans didn’t care for this revival but for me, I found it passably entertaining as I do generally like a snarky Kristen Bell, but no real desire for a “second” season.
