Animalistic is hardly an “enjoyable” film and doesn’t really stand out even amongst the revenge films that have come before like I Spit on Your Grave (including a remakes and sequels) but I will say for the most part Hanna Oldenburg wasn’t too bad.

PLOT SYNOPSIS

In this revenge thriller, Emma (HANNA OLDENBURG), an oil company executive, travels from Australia to the United States to close a politically controversial deal. On her way to speak at a press conference, she hails a cab, but is drugged and abducted by the driver. She awakens bound in an isolated, filthy cabin and at the mercy of a trio of psychopaths, who she will have to turn the tables on in order to escape in one piece.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 0/5

No features were included.

VIDEO – 3.5/5, AUDIO – 3.0/5

The movie is presented with a 2.46 widescreen aspect ratio (odd but I did measure it) and since it is a dark movie with a fair portion taking place in a dark basement so not much vibrancy going on even by standard definition standards. The Dolby Digital Surround and Stereo tracks are serviceable enough outputting the torture being placed on the poor main character.

OVERALL – 2.5/5

Overall, Animalistic is hardly an “enjoyable” film and doesn’t really stand out even amongst the revenge films that have come before like I Spit on Your Grave (including a remake and its sequels, and a sequel to the original) but I will say for the most part Hanna Oldenburg wasn’t too bad.
