Astro Boy was never a series, in any of the incarnations, that I ever watched and this one from 2003 was… fine with some entertainment value.

PLOT SYNOPSIS

Blast off with the adventures of Astro Boy in this 2003 reboot of Osamu Tezuka’s classic series that started the anime explosion. Filled with exciting action, humor, and drama, Astro Boy tells the story of a young robot boy (CANDI MILO) modeled after the son of a research scientist. This atomic-powered robot becomes a reluctant superhero who fights for justice and peace – for human and robots alike.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 0/5

This 4-disc set comes stacked inside a standard DVD case and comes with a matted slip cover. No features were included.

VIDEO – 4.0/5, AUDIO – 3.5/5

The show is presented with a 1.33 full frame aspect ratio as it originally aired back in 2003 and for the most part, this looks good, color is decently bright while the included Dolby Digital 2.0 tracks were average but serviceable.

OVERALL – 3.0/5

Astro Boy was never a series, in any of the incarnations, that I ever watched and this one from 2003 was… fine with some entertainment value, though not sure if I have much interest in watching these again. This 4-disc release from Mill Creek offers up decent video/audio transfers but no bonus materials.
