The True Story of Jesse James is an alright western and being someone who’s not the biggest fan of the genre, found it entertaining enough, led way by the tough-as-nails Robert Wagner.

PLOT SYNOPSIS

Having fought with the Confederacy during the Civil War, Jesse James (ROBERT WAGNER) and his brother Frank (JEFFREY HUNTER) dream of a farm life in Missouri. Harassed by Union sympathizers, they assemble a gang of outlaws, robbing trains and becoming folk heroes in the process. Jesse marries his sweetheart, Zee (HOPE LANGE), and maintains an aura of domesticity, but after a group of lawmen launch an attack on his mother’s house, Jesse plans one more great raid — on a Minnesota bank.

VIDEO – 4.0/5, AUDIO – 3.75/5

Twilight Time releases The True Story of Jesse James onto Blu-ray presented in its original 2.35 widescreen aspect ratio and has been given a 1080p high-definition transfer. The picture looks rather good with nice sharpness to it and colors are decently vivid. The disc also includes both 5.1 and 2.0 DTS-HD Master Audio tracks which shows off some clear dialogue and okay depth for the various western action/violence.

OVERALL – 3.0/5

Overall, The True Story of Jesse James is an alright western and being someone who’s not the biggest fan of the genre, found it entertaining enough, led way by the tough-as-nails Robert Wagner. This Blu-ray release from Twilight Time has good video and audio transfers but lacked any significant bonus material.
