America the Beautiful might not be as well produced as something from PBS or NatGeo, but it’s still a relaxing documentary series with some great photography of America’s splendid national parks and does present some interesting trivia.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 0/5 |
This 3-disc set comes housed in a standard HD slim case with two of the discs stacked. Inside is a code for a digital copy. |
VIDEO – 4.25/5 |
Each documentary is presented with a 1080p high-definition transfer and a 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio. These look excellent in HD with bright colors, fine detail/sharpness and just showing off the wonderment of these various locations. This kind of thing was meant to be seen on Blu-ray. |
AUDIO – 3.0/5 |
The documentaries come with a basic DTS-HD MA 2.0 track which is satisfactory enough but nothing especially noteworthy. The soothing music comes through well enough as does the narration, though on-location interviews do tend to have some minor noise behind them indicative probably of some cheap recording equipment. |
OVERALL – 3.75/5 |
Overall, America the Beautiful might not be as well produced as something from PBS or NatGeo, but it’s still a relaxing documentary series with some great photography of America’s splendid national parks and does present some interesting trivia courtesy of Alphonse Keasley’s calming narration. This 3-disc Blu-ray from Mill Creek offers great video and decent audio. |
