Alex & Me is a fun little inspirational flick that the family will enjoy, especially anyone in the 10-14 age range, even when things have that sugary, Disney-esque type of humor and a plot that seemed ripped from the 90s.

THE MOVIE — 3.0/5 |
Plot Synopsis: Teenager Reagan Wills (SIENA AGUDONG) has one dream, to play soccer like her hero Alex Morgan. In fact, her room is a shrine to all things Alex, including a life-size poster of the Olympic gold medalist. Yet in the Wills house, Reagan lives in the shadow of her superstar brother Logan (MATT CORNETT), the MVP of his high school football team. When Reagan fails to make the top club soccer team and is humiliated by her rival Claire (JESSICA TRESKA), she’s certain her ship has sailed. But after Reagan accidentally hits her head, her poster of Alex Morgan suddenly comes to life and everything changes. Quick Hit Review: Comes across a bit of a vanity project, in a sincere way, and like her professional sports stars that came before, namely Shaquille O’Neil in Steel or Michael Jordan in Space Jam, soccer star Alex Morgan you might suspect doesn’t have great acting chops, but the uplifting and positive message she conveys, and some entertaining moments kids will enjoy, makes Alex & Me a fine family film. |

VIDEO – 4.0/5 |
Warner Home Video Entertainment releases Alex & Me onto Blu-ray presented with a 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer, which looks bright in keeping with the family-friendly tone of the movie. Detail is pretty good though not overly sharp while colors shine through. |
AUDIO – 4.0/5 |
The included DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track is above average showcasing the basic soundtrack as well as strong dialogue levels coming through the center channel while the front and rears are mostly used for ambient noises. |
OVERALL – 3.0/5 |
Overall, Alex & Me is a fun little inspirational flick that the family will enjoy, especially anyone in the 10-14 age range, even when things have that sugary, Disney-esque type of humor and a plot that seemed ripped from the 90s. The Blu-ray released has throwaway selection of bonus material and good video/audio transfers. |
