Model Shop was an okay enough drama that excels with the performance from Alexandra Hay while I found Gary Lockwood’s Matthews to be a bit annoyingly dense of a character.

PLOT SYNOPSIS

With the threat of the Vietnam draft looming over his head and the realities of unemployment sinking in, 26-year-old Californian George Matthews (GARY LOCKWOOD) becomes increasingly hopeless about his future. Failing to relate to his live-in girlfriend, Gloria (ALEXANDRA HAY), the young man finds himself drawn to Lola (ANOUK AIMÉE), a model whom he photographs. In a desperate bid to make a meaningful connection, George decides to take a chance on having a romantic tryst with Lola.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 0.5/5

This comes with an 8-page booklet. The only features included is the Original Theatrical Trailer (0:59; HD) and two TV Spots (TRT 0:31; HD).

VIDEO – 4.0/5, AUDIO – 3.5/5

Model Shop poses onto Blu-ray presented with a 1080p high-definition transfer and a 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio courtesy of Twilight Time. Colors generally looked good and detail was relatively sharp with only some minor dust marks or specs cropping up here and there. The disc includes a standard but efficient DTS-HD Master Audio Mono track showcasing the kitschy score as well as crisp and clear dialogue levels.

OVERALL – 2.75/5

Overall, Model Shop was an okay enough drama that excels with the performance from Alexandra Hay while I found Gary Lockwood’s Matthews to be a bit annoyingly dense of a character. The Blu-ray release offers up good video and audio transfers but lackluster features.
