Honor Up is a poorly made, terribly written film with bad performances to boot. It honestly was a chore to sit through and there are far better options that touch upon the same subject matter.

PLOT SYNOPSIS

OG (DAMON DASH) is a drug lord’s lieutenant struggling to maintain the code of honor — protect the family — within his unruly crew after a Harlem shootout.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 1.0/5

This release comes with a title-embossed and glossy slip cover. Inside is a redemption code for the Digital HD copy. The only features included are the Audio Commentary with Director/Actor/Producer Damon Dash and Producer/Actress Racquel M. Horn and Trailer (1:36; HD).

VIDEO – 3.75/5, AUDIO – 4.0/5

Honor Up is presented with a 2.35 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer which does look good for the most part with some bright colors, though I did notice numerous instances of banding during transition scenes.

The soundtrack with rap music takes full advantage of the 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track which also outputs clean dialogue levels via the center channel while the front and rear speakers are relegated for the various ambient noises or score and aforementioned music.

OVERALL – 1.5/5

Overall, Honor Up is a poorly made, terribly written film with bad performances to boot. It honestly was a chore to sit through and there are far better options that touch upon the same subject matter. This Lionsgate release has good video and audio transfers while the bonus area was lacking.
