ABOUT THIS RELEASE

THE BIG PICTURE (1989) — A naive kid (KEVIN BACON) from Ohio wins the Best Student Film award and suddenly becomes the next Hollywood sensation. Seduced by manic agents and power happy producers, he jumps headlong into the industry fast lane. But when his career comes to a screeching halt, his dream turns into a comic nightmare and he discovers beneath the Hollywood tinsel lies a system that breaks ‘em as fast as it make ‘em.

FLATLINERS (1990) — A group of medical students (KEIFER SUTHERLAND, KEVIN BACON, JULIA ROBERTS, WILLIAM BALDWIN, OLIVER PLATT) begin to explore the realm of near death experiences. Each has their heart stopped and is revived. They begin having flashes of waking nightmares from their childhood, reflecting sins they committed or had committed against them. The experience continues to intensify, and they begin to be physically beaten by their visions as they try and go deeper into the death experience to find a cure.

HOLLOW MAN (2000) — After years of experimentation, Dr. Sebastian Caine (KEVIN BACON) has successfully transformed animals to an invisible state and brought them back to their original physical form. Determined to achieve the ultimate breakthrough, Caine instructs his team (ELISABETH SHUE, JOSH BROLINE) to move up to Phase III: human experimentation. Using himself as the first subject, the invisible Caine finds himself free to do the unthinkable.

TRAPPED (2002) — When their daughter is taken for ransom by a gang of kidnappers (KEVIN BACON, COURTNEY LOVE), a young doctor (STUART TOWNSEND) and his wife (CHARLIZE THERON) find themselves held hostage while a 24 hour plan to extort their money is set into motion. With time running out and the health of their asthmatic daughter at serious risk, they find themselves in a race against the clock as the “perfect crime” begins spiraling towards an unthinkable, terrifying and deadly conclusion.

IN THE CUT (2003) — Frannie Avery (MEG RYAN), a reserved English professor, becomes obsessed after seeing more than she should of an impassioned couple. When the young woman turns up dead, Frannie is questioned by a homicide detective (MARK RUFFALO) who draws her into a liberating erotic encounter. As the body count rises, familiar suspects begin to emerge and the killers gets closer, knowing every move.

WHERE THE TRUTH LIES (2005) — A female journalist (ALISON LOHMAN) tries to uncover the breakup, years earlier, of a celebrated comedy team (KEVIN BACON, COLIN FIRTH) after the duo found a girl dead in their hotel room. Though both had airtight alibis and neither was accused, the incident put an end to their act.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 0/5

No features were included. A note, In the Cut is the original R-rated version, previous releases were Unrated.

VIDEO – 3.5/5, AUDIO – 3.0/5

With 3 films crammed on each disc, there’s bound to be some artifacting in some instances and the older films, particularly The Big Picture, appears especially splotchy while colors are generally well balanced. The audio tracks are standard ranging from Dolby Digital 2.0 for The Big Picture, In the Cut (which is a downgrade as the DVD is DD 5.1 and Blu-ray DTS-HD 5.1) and Where the Truth Lies and the others 5.1 channels.

OVERALL – 2.5/5

The 6 Degrees Collection is another cheap hodge-podge set of movies already released by Mill Creek Entertainment and for those who don’t already own a few of them, it might be worth the $10 price tag as the picture quality was fine and audio adequate enough, though there are no bonus features.
