With Rune as his servant, Frail decides to settle down, and he takes over as town doctor. He meets Elizabeth (MARIA SCHELL), who is suffering from shock, and the two soon fall in love. SPECIAL FEATURES – 0.5/5 |
The only feature is the trailer. |

The Hanging Tree, um, swings(?) onto Blu-ray through the Warner Archive collection. For the most part, this new 1080p high-definition transfer looks quite good for the most part, colors are fairly vibrant and detail is sharp and well defined throughout. On the downside, I have to wonder if edge enhancement was utilized as I did notice some glowing around some objects or characters. The disc comes with a standard DTS-HD Master Audio Mono track and considering the movie is mostly dialogue-driven, it is standard but the voices comes boisterously through the center channel. |
OVERALL – 3.5/5 |
Overall, The Hanging Tree is an excellent drama that Gary Cooper who was absolutely fantastic in the lead with special recognition to Ben Piazza marking only his second feature film. The Blu-ray from the Warner Archive Collection offers up good video/audio transfers but, as usual, lacked substantial bonus material. |
