I Like Your Nerve is a fun enough 1931 romantic-comedy with charismatic performances by Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and Loretta Young. As for this DVD release… yeah, it may not sound or look very good but anyone who likes these types of movies, it is nice to finally get them on home video.

PLOT SYNOPSIS

Ne’er do well peripatetic playboy Larry O’Brien (DOUGLAS FAIRBANKS, JR.) gets ejected from one Latin American country only to land hip-deep in romance and intrigue in its neighbor. While deciding where to wreak havoc next post-deportation, Larry catches the eye of the lovely Diane Forsythe (LORETTA YOUNG) as she chauffeurs past the cantina where Larry is enjoying the local brew. Steadily refusing to accept the existence of the impossible, Larry strands and rescues Miss Forsythe, discovers she is engaged to a much older man, uncovers the reason for said engagement (parental embezzlement), and sets about unraveling all of her unsavory fiancé’s (EDMUND BREON) plans by kidnapping Diane before her father and fiancé can!

SPECIAL FEATURES – 0/5

No features were included.

VIDEO – 2.5/5, AUDIO – 2.5/5

The movie comes to DVD for the first time through Warner’s MOD program, Archive Collection, presented with a 1.37 full frame aspect ratio and given a standard Dolby Digital 1.0 track. As with most of these 1930s-era movies from WAC, it’s not exactly the best transfers as the video certainly is scratched up and the audio features pops and hisses.

OVERALL – 2.75/5

Overall, I Like Your Nerve is a fun enough 1931 romantic-comedy with charismatic performances by Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and Loretta Young. As for this DVD release… yeah, it may not sound or look very good but anyone who likes these types of movies, it is nice to finally get them on home video.
