I really don’t like these Shonda Rhimes-created TV shows as I find them infuriating to watch with regards to manufactured drama, even more so than the usual, and Grey’s Anatomy is no different.

SEASON SYNOPSIS

After being on her own for some time, Meredith (ELLEN POMPEO) is beginning to explore the idea of a romance with Riggs (MARTIN HENDERSON). Unfortunately, Maggie (KELLY MCCREARY) desires him as well, which threatens to drive a bitter wedge between the sisters. At the same time, despite their differences, Jackson (JESSE WILLIAMS) and April (SARAH DREW) must come together when they are assigned a difficult case. Meanwhile, Alex (JUSTIN CHAMBERS) faces the consequences of his vicious attack on DeLuca (GIACOMO GIANNIOTTI); Owen (KEVIN MCKIDD) and Amelia’s (CATERINA SCORSONE) marriage implodes; and a hospital-wide mutiny erupts when Bailey (CHANDRA WILSON) demotes Webber (JAMES PICKENS JR.). Finally, Arizona (JESSICA CHAPSHAW) may have found love again – but is she sleeping with the enemy?

SPECIAL FEATURES – 1.0/5

This release comes with a matted slip cover. Unfortunately the features are extremely light with only some Deleted Scenes and a Gag Reel.

VIDEO – 3.75/5, AUDIO – 3.5/5

The show is presented with an anamorphic widescreen, 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio and it looks decent enough for standard-def and I imagine matches up with how it aired. The included Dolby Digital 5.1 track is serviceable for clear dialogue levels and some minor use of the rear speakers for ambient noises, a generic score and even more generic soul-draining romantic pop music.

OVERALL – 2.5/5

Overall, I really don’t like these Shonda Rhimes-created TV shows as I find them infuriating to watch with regards to manufactured drama, even more so than the usual, and Grey’s Anatomy is no different, now going 13 years and coming back for a 14th that’s supposedly going to be more light-hearted. As it is, it’s a primetime soap opera with slightly higher production values and better talent.
