PLOT SYNOPSIS

The chief security officer at a top-secret medical facility (DANIEL WU) finds himself caught in an explosive battle when a young thief and his accomplices steal a groundbreaking curative medicine. After discovering the true origins of the medicine, the officer must decide whom he can trust to protect the cure from falling into the wrong hands and prevent an all-out war from bringing the city to its knees.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 0.5/5

The only feature is the Trailer (1:23; HD).

VIDEO – 4.0/5

Sky on Fire comes to Blu-ray through Well Go USA Entertainment and is presented with a 2.39 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer. This has the distinct look and feel of a digitally shot movie with a crispness with nary a grain that I could see; but even so, detail is sharp and colors are generally bright.

AUDIO – 3.0/5

The disc includes Mandarin language DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track which I found rather lackluster even during the action scenes while the more dramatic, dialogue-rich, ones, mostly comes through the center channel with minimal usage of the rear speakers for some ambient noises. Not bad, however for this much action, could’ve been a lot better.

OVERALL – 2.5/5

Overall, Sky on Fire had potential but the execution I felt was on the sloppy side though Daniel Wu did well in a lead role and some of the action scenes were shot pretty well while the visual effects were mostly laughable. This Well Go USA Blu-ray offers good video, so-so audio and only a trailer as the solo feature.
