THE SEASON — 4.0/5 |
Season Synopsis: As Ezra (TAYLOR GRAY) continues his journey to become a Jedi under Kanan’s (FREDDIE PRINZE JR.) guidance, the crew of the Ghost bands together with a secret rebel cell and ex-soldiers from the Clone Wars to join a fledgling alliance to restore peace and freedom to the galaxy. But the dark side looms large as Darth Vader dispatches new Inquisitors, setting the stage for a climatic showdown in which terrible truths will be revealed and the lives of our heroes will be changed forever. Quick Hit Review: Star Wars Rebels season two is a solid and great improvement over its first year with an expansion on character development in conjunction with solid storylines from beginning to end. I’m not sure how it holds compared with other Star Wars related shows beyond the movies but I enjoyed this second season though the animation isn’t best at times, but mostly adequate at least. VIDEO – 4.5/5 |
Star Wars Rebels: Complete Season Two flies onto Blu-ray presented with a 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer. As one would expect, this show looks brilliant in HD with bright colors and good detail levels. There were no major instances of banding which sometimes can be prevalent in animated shows/films and there were obvious signs of aliasing or artifacts. This probably more or less matches up with what was shown on television. |
AUDIO – 4.0/5 |
Unfortunately for some reason this was only given a lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 track and while disappointing not to get a DTS-HD codec, the DD is more than adequate providing for clear dialogue throughout and even the action scenes have some OK depth, though nothing I’d call extraordinary. |
OVERALL – 3.75/5 |
Overall, Star Wars Rebels: Complete Season Two is a strong entry into the series with some decent animation to go along with well written storylines and nice character development. The Blu-ray released by Buena Vista offers good video and audio transfers while the features aren’t half bad. |
