Scooby-Doo and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon is a harmless film for the entire family though if you’re not into the WWE or its roster of superstars, there’s not much to appreciate considering seemingly half of the movie is devoted to them rather than Scooby and the gang.

THE MOVIE — 2.5/5 |
Apparently the last team-up between these two was a hit that we get a sequel, Scooby-Doo and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon, an adequate movie but for those of us who don’t know or couldn’t care less about the WWE, there’s not much here to enjoy to the point I almost dozed off and didn’t laugh once. Of course, at my age, I have to think I’ve finally outgrown Scooby and the gang and this is geared for far younger viewers and as I said in my last review, this is merely a way for the WWE to reach a younger generation. The story is simple enough: Shaggy (MATTHEW LILLARD), Scooby (FRANK WELKER), Fred (WELKER), Daphne (GREY GRIFFIN) and Velma (KATE MICUCCI) are attending a racing event filled with WWE superstars including Triple H, Paige, The Miz and The Undertaker, amongst many others, as they race a course with the winning team collecting a cool $1 million. But just as the race begins, a demon racer enters the mix intent on taking out the racers. Vince McMahon puts the Mystery Inc. on the case to find the culprit before he (or she) damages more than the cars. In doing so, and once his driving partner is injured, The Undertaker is partnered up with Shaggy and Scooby much to their horror and pleasure as the Undertaker is their favorite wrestler. Curse of the Speed Demon isn’t a terrible movie by any stretch but it is one of the weaker ones to come out of the Scooby-Doo line. However, for younger viewers and/or fans of the WWE, they might find some entertainment value and a quick and harmless way to spend 80 minutes. |

VIDEO – 4.25/5 |
Scooby-Doo and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon races onto Blu-ray presented with a 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio and given a 1080p high-definition transfer (MPEG-4 AVC codec). All in all, it’s a great looking transfer. Outside of some banding, it’s relatively clean and colors are absolutely bright and have a nice pop. |
AUDIO – 3.5/5 |
The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track is adequate but nothing particularly noteworthy. Since it’s animated, any post work in the sound department had to cull from other sources so you’re not going to get the most depth-filled audio yet dialogue levels still sound clean. |
OVERALL – 3.0/5 |
Overall, Scooby-Doo and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon is a harmless film for the entire family though if you’re not into the WWE or its roster of superstars, there’s not much to appreciate considering seemingly half of the movie is devoted to them rather than Scooby and the gang. The Blu-ray released by Warner Home Video offers good video and adequate audio though, as usual, the features are disappointing. |
