The Driftless Area isn’t a great movie but it’s still watchable thanks to a few strong performances, specifically Anton Yelchin, Zooey Deschanel and John Hawkes. The DVD released through Sony is pretty basic with only one extra while the video/audio transfers are OK.

PLOT SYNOPSIS

Pierre (ANTON YELCHIN) returns to his hometown after the death of his parents and falls under the spell of the enchanting, mysterious Stella (ZOOEY DESCHANEL). As their relationship deepens, Pierre finds himself in a dangerous situation with a volatile criminal (JOHN HAWKES) who abruptly altered the course of Stella’s life.

Sony releases The Driftless Area onto DVD shown with an anamorphic 2.40 widescreen aspect ratio and generally the video looks good with decent colors throughout. The Dolby Digital 5.1 track is standard but effect enough.
