Camp Massacre is a satire on the horror genre but it’s not that funny and the acting is, at best, below average. Those who are fans of Bree Olson and her, let’s say, assets, will be disappointed as she’s only in it for the pre-opening credits (a la Scream I suppose).

THE MOVIE

Ten contestants appear on a competitive summer boot camp reality show geared toward weight-loss. As the competition grows more intense, the contestants realize they are losing more than just weight: they are losing competitors. As contestants disappear in the night, it becomes apparent that a killer is on the loose, and one million dollars is at stake.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 0.5/5

The only feature included is the film’s trailer.

VIDEO – 3.0/5 | AUDIO – 2.5/5

MVD Visual distributes Camp Massacre on DVD shown with an anamorphic 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio and all in all, doesn’t look terrible with OK colors though there is a moderate amount of artifacting.

The Dolby Digital Stereo track is bland but effective enough. Dialogue comes through fine however there is an echo effect that occurs due, I think, to substandard recording equipment.

OVERALL – 1.5/5

Overall, Camp Massacre is a satire on the horror genre but it’s not that funny and the acting is, at best, below average. Those who are fans of Bree Olson and her, let’s say, assets, will be disappointed as she’s only in it for the pre-opening credits (a la Scream I suppose). The DVD release is limited in the bonus features department while the video and audio transfers were OK though nothing special.
