“Jonny Quest”: The Complete Eighties Adventures is a fun enough series even if I, who grew up during that time, barely even recall ever watching it. The animation looks good and the transfers for the audio and video are both OK. Although it is feature-less, it is nice to see it get a release if only through the Warner Archives line.

PLOT SUMMARY
Jonny Quest (voiced by SCOTT MENVLLE), Hadji (ROB PAULSEN), Dr. Quest and Race Bannon (GRANVILLE VAN DUSEN) return for an all-new collection of super-adventures in this originally syndicated sequel series from the heyday of animation’s awesome age. Breaking up the band of boy bros in this 13-episode go-round is plucky, precocious pre-teen tomboy Jessie Bradshaw, while Team Quest gets a super-powered assist courtesy of their stone am ally, Hardrok.
The Quest plane gets a makeover, too, now jetting the skyways as Questor 1 and Questor 2, capable of splitting off a hi-speed shuttle for one-man missions. But the more things change… the more Jonny and company still square off against world menaces from the very edge of science. Giant Viking apes, prehistoric reptile clones and animated clay warriors are just some of the fantastic foes faced in this fantastic new series… not to mention the implacable, friendish Dr. Zin. So what are you waiting for? It’s time to cry, “Sim Sim Sala Bim!”
SPECIAL FEATURES – 0/5
The 2-disc set is contained in a standard DVD case. No features were included.
VIDEO – 3.75/5
The full frame presentation actually looks pretty good considering the era and how old the series is (close to 30 years) but colors are bright and flaws are limited.
AUDIO – 3.0/5
The Dolby Digital Mono track included isn’t perfect but effective enough with clear dialogue levels and the action elements sound OK even if it is flat.
OVERALL – 3.0/5
Overall, “Jonny Quest”: The Complete Eighties Adventures is a fun enough series even if I, who grew up during that time, barely even recall ever watching it. The animation looks good and the transfers for the audio and video are both OK. Although it is feature-less, it is nice to see it get a release if only through the Warner Archives line.
