Mischief Night is your typical and cheap direct-to-video horror movie with nothing new to offer although I did find star Noell Coet to be one of the few highlights, so hopefully she finds better material in the future. The DVD released by RLJ Entertainment isn’t overly impressive with merely adequate video/audio transfers and a forgettable bonus feature.

THE MOVIE
Plot Outline: Traumatized by the death of her mother in a car accident nine years ago, young Em Walton (NOELL COET) suffers from psychosomatic blindness. Home alone on the night before Halloween, Em’s plans for a quiet evening take a horrifying turn when an unknown, masked intruder materializes… and begins to systematically stalk and torment her. As the sadistic killer closes in, Em is forced to rely on her remaining, heightened senses if she hopes to survive the terrifying darkness of Mischief Night.
SPECIAL FEATURES – 1.0/5
The only feature included is a Behind the Scenes (11:46) featurette.
Previews – Lovely Molly, Do Not Disturb, All Hallows Eve, Sanitarium
VIDEO – 3.0/5
Mischief Night is presented in anamorphic widescreen with a 2.40 aspect ratio. The video is pretty much on par with what you’d expect from a DTV affair with soft colors, mostly darker given the genre, and some bouts of pixilation and/or artifacts.
AUDIO – 3.5/5
The Dolby Digital 5.1 is fairly strong if not unremarkable with a good portion being front-loaded. Dialogue is clear and when the killings begin, blood-curdling screams come through well enough.
OVERALL – 2.0/5
Overall, Mischief Night is your typical and cheap direct-to-video horror movie with nothing new to offer although I did find star Noell Coet to be one of the few highlights, so hopefully she finds better material in the future.
