The acting and all around casting isn\u2019t bad save for the actor playing Ephraim\u2019s son (and apparently the role was re-cast in the second season) and there\u2019s enough character development to provide the right balance of conflict with oft head-butting personalities. Corey Stoll is great in the lead while David Bradley is off just enough to give each episode a boost of energy.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"features\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>SPECIAL FEATURES \u2013 3.5\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fox has re-released <strong>\u201cThe Strain\u201d<\/strong> on Blu-ray with a Collector\u2019s Edition box which contains a statue bust of The Master. The picture, for the most part, looks great showing off sharp detail levels throughout while colors tend to be muted as a fair number of episodes are dimly lit in keeping with the more horror-centric genre.<br \/>\n<a name=\"audio\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>AUDIO \u2013 4.25\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Each episode comes with a 5.1 channel DTS-HD Master Audio track (Spanish Dolby 5.1 and French DTS 5.1 also available) and although I don\u2019t consider it anything extraordinary or reference quality, it certainly outdoes the standard audio upon its initial airings.
