John Huston, Shelley Winters, Bo Hopkins and Henry Fonda do all they can to keep a giant marine menace from turning their sleepy village into a one-stop snack-shop. The film was helmed by cult director\/producer Ovidio G. Assonitis (Beyond the Door<\/em>, The Visitor<\/em>, The Curse<\/em>).<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>Not surprising, the features are very light with the Theatrical Trailer (1:01; HD)<\/u><\/strong>, Photo Gallery (2:01; HD)<\/u><\/strong> and the Radio Spot (0:58; HD)<\/u><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Reptilicus<\/em><\/strong> \u2014 0.5\/5
\n<\/strong>Again, we get the same kind of features with the Theatrical Trailer (1:58; HD)<\/u><\/strong>, a Photo Gallery (2:41; HD)<\/u><\/strong> and the Radio Spot (1:00; HD)<\/u><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

VIDEO \u2013 3.25\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Shout, through their Scream Factory line, releases both Tentacles<\/em><\/strong> and Reptilicus<\/em><\/strong> onto Blu-ray both presented in their original 2.35 and 1.66 aspect ratios respectively and both shown with a 1080p high-definition transfer, Reptilicus<\/em><\/strong> being new. Neither film are particularly brilliant to look at though given the low budgets and age, not too surprising. Details aren\u2019t bad and colors appear to be well balanced however I did notice many instances of dust marks and scratches albeit nothing major or distracting. Of the two, probably Tentacles<\/em><\/strong> looks a tad better but likely only because it\u2019s the \u201cnewer\u201d movie.

AUDIO \u2013 3.0\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Tentacles<\/em><\/strong> comes with a DTS-HD Master Audio Stereo track while Reptilicus<\/em><\/strong> has a DTS-HD MA Mono track. As with the picture, I can\u2019t say either one is phenomenal but they do gets the job done providing for clear dialogue levels and OK depth when the creatures begin attacking, not to mention the respective scores chiming in.<\/p>\n

OVERALL \u2013 2.5\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Overall, both Tentacles<\/em><\/strong> and Reptilicus<\/em><\/strong> speak to a specific niche crowd, fans of the old creature-features so while I myself wasn\u2019t overly impressed, it is nice to get both on one disc looking and sounding better than ever.
