For years, the Covington forest has been shrouded in mystery, with a dark past as a final destination for troubled youths. Undeterred by the news of a classmate who recently took his life in those woods, five teenagers \u2014 Robin (SHELBY YOUNG), Nia (CHLOE BRIDGES), Ben (MITCH HEWER), Amelia (TAYLOR MURPHY) and Chris (CARTER JENKINS) \u2014 journey into the forest for an evening of flashlight games and ghost stories. Audio Commentary<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 Writer\/Directors Scott Beck and Bryan Woods & Producer Darren Brandt give a lively and relatively informative commentary on making the movie, putting together the cast and other bits of information.<\/p>\n

Behind the Scenes (5:32)<\/u><\/strong> provides some basic overview on how the movie was made with cast\/crew interviews intercut with scenes from the movie.<\/p>\n

Deleted Scenes\/Alternate Ending (TRT 5:18)<\/u><\/strong> contains three scenes, including an alt ending. There is an optional commentary for each available with Beck and Woods available.<\/p>\n

Nightlight<\/em><\/strong> arrives on DVD via Lionsgate presented with a 2.40 widescreen transfer and an OK looking transfer considering the film is entirely shot at night and through a flashlight. The Dolby Digital 5.1 track is quite effective providing good depth for the variety of screams to the \u201ccreepy\u201d off-screen noises.<\/p>\n

Overall, Nightlight<\/em><\/strong> is yet the latest found footage horror film that takes more than a few cues from The Blair Witch Project<\/em> though I guess moderate points for taking from a shaky camera to a flashlight instead. The acting isn\u2019t the best but considering the material and environment, can\u2019t judge them too harshly. Perhaps as a rental this might be fine especially combined for that person who enjoys the subgenre otherwise this is one that can be skipped until it airs on SyFy in a year.<\/p>\n
