Dan and Mindy Summers (ACE MARRERO, KATIE STEGEMAN) are on a road trip along a desolate mountain highway when Dan is forced to exit the SUV to remove a dead tree blocking their path. Before he can get back inside, he and Mindy find themselves held hostage on the side of the road, trapped in their car by a mysterious, gunman. They must fight for their lives in a sadistic game of cat and mouse set against a backdrop of numbing cold, pitch darkness and raw terror.<\/p>\n

Roadside<\/em><\/strong> makes a pit stop onto DVD presented with an anamorphic 2.40 widescreen aspect ratio and mostly looks good with stark blacks though colors, since the film takes place at night, are muted. The Dolby Digital 5.1 track is effective if not overbearing at times but dialogue levels sound decent enough and the score, especially during the opening credits, come through well enough.<\/p>\n

Overall, Roadside<\/em><\/strong> began with plenty of promise but even with a short 70-minute running time (sans opening and end credits), lingers far too long with a thin plot and honestly two characters who are not the most likeable couple to grace the small screen. The DVD released by RLJ is basic with no bonus material while the video and audio are adequate though nothing phenomenal.<\/p>\n
