The film does come across as dated not so much for its effects, which are still impressive for its time, but the pacing isn\u2019t the best.. Braving exploding volcanoes, tumbling rockslides, and flesh-eating reptiles, James Mason stars as a courageous if irascible geologist, Pat Boone as his indomitable young assistant, and Ariene Dahl as a lovely widow who becomes an invaluable colleague on their voyage of discovery.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"features\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>SPECIAL FEATURES \u2013 1.5\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Unfortunately for such a classic film, the features are limited to a <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Commentary<\/span><\/strong> with Actress Diane Baker and Film Historians Steven C. The transfer is very well done with amazing and deep colors, detail levels are sharp and outside of a couple dust marks, it appears to be a clean-looking transfer with no obvious scratch marks or other ailments. Considering the film\u2019s age, going on 55 years, the work done is especially impressive.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This is a re-release with a much needed new transfer which will please fans.<br \/>\n<a name=\"audio\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>AUDIO \u2013 4.25\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The disc includes both a 5.1 and 2.0 DTS-HD Master Audio track and as with the video, it\u2019s a very nice upgrade over any previous releases. Dialogue levels are nice and clear, the occasional music cue or, in odd places, on-screen music, comes through with good clarity. The more adventure-oriented scenes provide some depth and while it\u2019s not an entirely dynamic lossless track, with either 5.1 or 2.0 tracks, with the same limitations as the video.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><br \/>\n<a name=\"overall\"><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/xde0iV2.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-screencapture aligncenter\" title=\"Journey to the Center of the Earth\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/xde0iV2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>OVERALL \u2013 3.5\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Overall, it\u2019s another solid release (well re-release) of a classic film from Twilight Time with <strong><em>Journey to the Center of the Earth<\/em><\/strong>.
