Audio Commentary<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 Writer\/Director Jeff Lieberman sits down to recall making the movie everything from the opening crawl, and some minor disdain for \u201cMST3K\u201d, to working with the actors and shooting certain scenes.<\/p>\n

Digging In: The Making of Squirm<\/em> (33:11; HD)<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 This behind-the-scenes looks at the making of the movie and features new interviews with Writer\/Director Jeff Lieberman and Actor Don Scardino as they recount their time making the movie. Note: <\/strong>Portions of Scardino\u2019s interview is on the \u201cMST3K\u201d Turkey Day set.<\/p>\n

Eureka! With Jeff Lieberman (7:04; HD)<\/strong><\/span> has the writer\/director take us to the location where his idea was \u201chatched\u201d (rather than just recounting it).<\/p>\n

VIDEO \u2013 4.0\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Squirm<\/em><\/strong> slithers its way onto Blu-ray presented with a 1080p high-definition transfer and a 1.85 widescreen aspect ratio (the back cover mislabels it as 1.78). The picture actually isn\u2019t half bad with good details, it\u2019s relatively clean with no major artifacting or pixilation but there is the occasional dust mark and scratch, but it\u2019s minimal and doesn\u2019t take away from the viewing experience… such as it is. Colors appear to be well balanced though due to the era, it can come across as a bit bland.<\/p>\n

AUDIO \u2013 3.75\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The disc includes a DTS-HD MA Mono track and actually isn\u2019t half bad offering clear dialogue while the effects sometimes would top out, though nothing too bad. The score also comes through well enough and I have to think, Squirm<\/em><\/strong> never sounded better.<\/p>\n

OVERALL \u2013 3.0\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Overall, Squirm<\/em><\/strong> is gleefully cheesy and although it is pretty bad, it\u2019s one of those so bad, its good films which got ribbed on \u201cMystery Science Theater 3000,\u201d although I would suggest watching this version first as the \u201cMST3K\u201d one edited out the gory parts. As a part of Shout\u2019s Collector\u2019s Edition line, it has a fair amount of features and the video\/audio transfers are both well done.<\/p>\n
