PLOT SYNOPSIS<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Michael King (SHANE JOHNSON) doesn’t believe in God or The Devil. Following the sudden death of his wife, the documentary filmmaker decides to make his next film about the search for the existence of the supernatural. Michael decides to make himself the center of the experiment \u2013 allowing demonologists, necromancers, and various practitioners of the occult to try the deepest and darkest spells and rituals they can find on him \u2013 in the hopes that when they fail, he’ll once and for all have proof that religion, spiritualism, and the paranormal are nothing more than myth. But something does happen. An evil and horrifying force has taken over Michael King. And it will not let him go.<\/p>\n

The Possession of Michael King<\/em><\/strong> comes to Blu-ray presented with a 1080p high-definition transfer and 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio. Given this is in the \u201cfound footage\u201d subgenre, the picture isn\u2019t great but does have OK detail and colors appear to be bright. That said, it\u2019s made to look amateurish so you do get some artifacts but it\u2019s on purpose than with the transfer itself.<\/p>\n

AUDIO \u2013 3.0\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track is fairly weak where dialogue is on the lower spectrum and the few action (or jump scare) scenes are quite limited in scope and depth. I suppose it\u2019s a serviceable track but hardly anything noteworthy and in keeping with the source material.<\/p>\n

OVERALL \u2013 2.0\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Overall, The Possession of Michael King<\/em><\/strong> is the latest in the \u201cfound footage\u201d flicks that have permeated theaters and store shelves over the past decade or so and it\u2019s frankly kind of dull and not at all scary. The Blu-ray released by Anchor Bay is pretty basic with no features, a digital copy (in case you need to see this on your tablet) and the audio and video are not exactly remarkable.<\/p>\n
